Choreographer Cathy Marston was asked to make an evening of dance to run parallel with Thomas Adès’s opera, The Tempest, at the Royal Opera House. Before the Tempest, After the Storm is a dyptich. Before the Tempest is performed by Gildas Diquero and Martina Langmann, After the Storm performed by Dylan Elmore and Jenny Tattersall. The specially commissioned score is by Jules Maxwell.
The second dance was made in response to an existing work by Thomas Adès, Asyla written in 1997. Performed by Gildas Diquero, Matthew Hart, Dylan Elmore, Martina Langmann,
Jenny Tattersall and Joh Williams.
Two performances were filmed on stage at the Linbury Studio Theatre at the
Royal Opera House on 7th & 8th February 2004, including an interview with Cathy Marston, it was shown on BBC 4.
